PRESS RELEASE

METRO AUTHORITIES INSPECTED THE BUILDING AT B. B. GANGULY STREET

Kolkata, Date: 09.12.2025

On 07.12.2025 earthen roof tiles at the ground floor of the G+2 storied building at 107, B. B. Ganguly Street fell off reportedly injuring 01 person. Though the underground tunnelling work here has been completed and no heavy engineering work is going on, still Metro engineers immediately rushed to the spot as a goodwill gesture and provided temporary support for the safety of the residents of this building.

Metro engineers have studied the building on 08.12.2025 and after having analysed, made an assessment about the condition of this building and it has been found that even before the East-West Metro tunnelling work began here, the age related deterioration of the building had started. But the repair of the previous damages prior to tunneling due to age related deterioration of the building without any maintenance by the residents is beyond the scope of Kolkata Metro Railway. The tunneling work has now been completed and Metro services have been commissioned. No heavy engineering work is being executed in the area, we are not responsible for any further damages of the building in the area nor responsible for repairs or compensation.

Metro authorities have requested Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) to inspect this century old building at 107, B. B. Ganguly Street for taking appropriate action as required.
