A 30 bedded Hospital of Metro Railway, Kolkata is situated at 28/55, M.N.Sen Road, Chanditala , Kolkata-700040. The medical facilities available include Inpatient care, Outdoor treatment and facilities for certain Investigations. The benefits can be availed by Metro Railway employees, their dependant family members and also retired Railway employees who have registered with this Hospital. Apart from the Hospital, Outpatient care is also available at First-aid Post at Noapara and Lock-up Dispensaries at Metro Bhawan and Belgachia. However, patients of Metro Railway have to be referred to Hospitals of Eastern & South Eastern Railways for critical care indoor treatment as well as for specialist care in some disciplines that are not available at present.  Metro Railway Medical Department has consistently endeavoured to provide quality health care notwithstanding the limited facilities available.

TIMELINE

28th May, 1990 – Health Unit at Tollygunge started functioning. Patients requiring Indoor treatment were referred to nearby Railway Hospitals i.e. B. R. Singh Hospital, Central Hospital Garden Reach, Howrah Orthopedics etc.

Proposal for up gradation of the Health Unit at Tollygunge to 30 bedded Hospital initiated and included in Railway budget for the year 2001-02.

The 30 bedded Hospital was inaugurated in December 2004.

Indoor facilities started on 15th June, 2005 with various contractual services viz. Casualty Service, Nursing Service, OPD and Technical service, Catering Service, Cleaning Service etc., as sufficient manpower was not available.

After one year of functioning, Hospital Indoor services were kept suspended from 29.07.2006 to 07.12.2008

Indoor Services restarted on 8th December, 2008 with re-engagement of contractual staff through agencies. For past one year (2011 -2012) average Bed Occupancy has been around 80% and on occasions has crossed 100%. Many complicated cases have been fully cured.

On 24/06/2013 New Tapan Sinha Memorial Hospital was inaugurated.

On28/12/2017, Tapan Sinha Memorial Hospital ( IPD) was inaugurated.
