In modern & progressive organization like Metro Railway Kolkata the job of material management is vested in the Stores Department under the Principal Chief Materials Manager who is directly responsible to the General Manager.
The department has to ensure availability of all materials for Metro Railway. Since the requirement of spares for Metro Railway rolling stock is unique, there is greater scope for development of sources.
The Head quarter Stores Organization is located at the fifth (5th) floor of Metro Rail Bhawan 33/1, J.L.N. Road (Near to Park Street Metro Rail way Station) Kolkata-700071, Phone number & Fax No - 033-22262421(BSNL). 55650 Rly. . The organization is divided into two wings like Operation & Maintenance wing and Construction wing. Each wing is working under the control of DYCMMs assisted by SMM & AMM.

Noapara Stores Depot: It is the sole depot & is located near Noapara Metro Railway Station. It deals with the all kinds of items required for operation & maintenance of all types Metro Railway rakes. It also disposes released scrap. SMM/ Noapara is the Incharge of this depot. Contact No.- 9007041719 (Mobile).

Procurement :
The procurement process goes on throughout the year as per the procurement calendar which specifies category wise item for which procurement action is to be initiated. The procurement is done through open tenders normally except for PAC items through IREPS Website www.ireps.gov.in. The procurement of major items like complete train rakes, Rail engines, wheels and Axles etc. are done by the Ministry of Railways/Govt. Of India.
