CHIEF COMMISSIONER OF RAILWAY SAFETY INSPECTED HOWRAH MAIDAN TO ESPLANADE STRETCH OF GREEN LINE


Kolkata, Date: 05.02.2024


Shri Janak Kumar Garg, Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety (CCRS) inspected Howrah Maidan to Esplanade stretch of East-West Metro under the river Hooghly today i.e. o­n 05.02.2024 by undertaking a trolley inspection.  It has been a historical moment as CCRS inspection and approval are must for commissioning and commencement of commercial services o­n this stretch.


Shri Garg started trolley inspection from Howrah Maidan station this morning and   travelled up to Esplanade station.  He inspected the tunnel section under the river Hooghly, tracks, tunnel ventilation system along with the lighting system in the tunnel.  


After reaching Esplanade, CCRS inspected the Entry and Exit Gates, passenger interchanging point of Blue Line and Green Line, station system map, lifts, escalators, station signages and other passenger amenities that will be provided at Esplanade station.  After completing Esplanade station inspection, Shri Garg again undertook trolley inspection from Esplanade to Howrah Maidan station.  


During this inspection, Shri V. K. Srivastava, Principal Chief Engineer and Additional General Manager (AGM) and other high level officials of Metro Railway and Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation Limited ( KMRCL)  accompanied him.
