AN UNCLAIMED BAG SEIZED FROM INSIDE A METRO

AND HANDED OVER TO POLICE


On 09.04.2021, at around 14:28 hrs the shift in-charge and other staff of Sovabazar-Sutanuti Metro station were alerted by Central Control, Metro Bhavan that an unclaimed bag was lying below a seat in Coach No-4605 of a DN Metro.  They recovered a bag from below a seat going towards Kavi Subhas station.

This was initially brought to the notice of the Station Master of Noapara station by a passenger who was travelling o­n the same DN train. As the train reached Sovabazar-Sutanuti station the shift in-charge and other staff who were meanwhile also alerted by the Central Control, Metro Bhavan rushed to the train and recovered the unclaimed bag from train no-DK124 and Coach No-4605.

The bag was checked o­n the baggage scanner at the station and was found to contain goods with electrical wires.

      Without hesitating further they immediately informed Lalbazar Central Control and kept the bag maintaining all safety and security norms. At around 15:00 hrs Police personnel from Shyampukur Police Station arrived at the spot and checked the bag thoroughly. A vacuum cleaner was found inside that recovered bag. At around 15:10 hrs Police personnel seized the bag and left the station.
