AIR FILTERS OF UNDERGROUND METRO STATIONS REPLACED
Metro Railway Authorities have been utilizing the lockdown period to improve Kolkata Metro’s infrastructure for providing better services and amenities to its commuters, once Metro services resume.
During this lockdown, 514 numbers of 10-micron air filters at all 15 underground stations of North-South Metro have been replaced. These improved stainless steel filters are easily washable with soap water, thus preventing any possibility of spreading of Corona virus. These newly installed air filters will not corrode due to washing. They will provide clean air to all the commuters inside the stations and also improve its air quality. They will also prevent dust entering into cooling coils which will result in better cooling and improve efficiency of the AC plants.
Apart from this, 30 –year old underground cables at Rabindra Sadan Metro Station area have also been replaced in this period. These cables supply power to the third rail.
