PRESS RELEASE

SIX REST ROOMS FOR METRO MOTORMEN

Kolkata, 08.07.2024

Metro Railway authorities take all possible measures for providing a nice and cool atmosphere for all its staff. Special care has always been taken to provide enough rest to all Metro Motormen. on an average, Metro Motormen of Blue Line perform around 7 hours duty daily and they get headquarter rest on daily basis. They also take rest for around half an hour in between consequent trips. Motormen get refreshed during this minimum 30 min rest between 2 trips. Each and every motorman goes to their home at night, that's why there is no concept of Running Room as well as outstation rest. Each Crew Lobby is attached with Rest Rooms where adequate chairs, tables, beds etc are provided. Total 6 crew lobbies are provided in different Corridors.

Two Rest Rooms for Motormen are functional at old Kavi Subhash and New Kavi Subhash Metro stations in Blue Line and Orange Line respectively. In Blue Line, there is another Rest Room for Motormen at Noapara station.  At present, due to truncated services on Green Line, there are two Rest Rooms at Central Park Depot and Esplanade. one Rest Room has also been provided at Joka for Purple Line Motormen.  These Rest Rooms are fully air-conditioned and equipped with comfortable sofas, beds, clean toilets, RO filters etc so that after finishing one round duty, Motormen can take rest here comfortably.  Water purifiers with coolers have also been provided for the benefits of these Motormen. Lockers are provided to keep their personal equipment safely.

For display of instructions and necessary guidelines, white boards have also been provided.  All these Rest Rooms are well maintained so that Motormen don’t face any difficulty in taking quality rest.
