METRO RPF SHOWS A HUMANE FACE AGAIN

Kolkata, Date: 04.07.2024

            o­n 02.07.2024 at 14.10 hrs., o­n-duty RPF staff found a child aged around 12 years roaming and crying profusely at City Centre Metro station.  They rushed to him and during interrogation, they came to know that he was left behind by his mother at the station.He was brought to the Station Master’s Office. The child disclosed his name and Barasat home address but could not provide any phone number to the o­n-duty RPF personnel.

Soon after receipt of this information, the o­n-duty RPF personnel swung into action and immediately conveyed all the details of the child along with his home address to the RPF post at Barasat to trace out his parents. After hectic efforts, RPF at last found the details of his home address and contact number of his grandfather.The situation of the child was conveyed to him and he was requested to come to City Centre station immediately.

Thereafter, the matter was informed to Bidhannagar Police Station.A thorough medical check-up was done at Seba General Hospital, Bidhannagar and as per the extant provision, he was handed over to the Superintendent of an Anath Ashram in presence of police personnel and family members so that his guardians can take his custody after complying with all official and legal formalities.
