PRESS RELEASE

UPI PAYMENT-BASED TICKETING SYSTEM TO BE INTRODUCED AT ALL BOOKING COUNTERS OF BLUE LINE SOON

 Kolkata, Date:29.06.2024

UPI Payment Based Ticketing System has already been introduced in all the Automatic Smart Card Recharge Machines (ASCRM) installed at stations of Blue Line. This ticketing system has also been introduced in all the stations of Green Line 1 and Green Line 2. All ticket booking counters of Green Line 1 and Green Line 2 are now UPI enabled. As a result, commuters now don't need to tender the exact fare in currency notes and coins at these stations. Instead, they have now been recharging their Smart Cards or purchasing tokens with the help of this alternative system.

Here is another good news for the commuters of  Metro Railway! Now UPI Payment-Based Ticketing System will be available at the booking counters of all stations of Blue Line soon for the convenience of the passengers. With the introduction of this UPI-Payment based ticketing system at all the counters of Blue Line, journey in Metro will be more hassle-free and convenient. Blue Line now will have UPI Payment-Based facility in booking counters for purchasing tokens or recharging Smart Cards.

However, in this context it requires to mention that Metro Railway authorities have taken initiative for the redressal of failed UPI payment of passengers. Though such incidents are negligible in numbers, hardly 10-15 daily, the process for refund of failed payments has now been initialised. Metro Railway authorities are trying to ensure that no such problem recurs in future.

It is to be noted that Metro Railway authorities with the help of State Bank of India and Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) have introduced this Unified Payments Interface (UPI) Based Ticketing System.
