PRESS RELEASE

HIGH VOLUME LOW SPEED (HVLS) FAN INSTALLED AT KAVI SUBHASH METRO STATION

Kolkata, Date: 11.06.2024

Here is a good news for the Metro commuters in this scorching heat!  As a part of improving passenger amenities in the Metro premises, one state of the art High-Volume Low Speed (HVLS) fan has been installed at Kavi Subhash Metro station today. Commuters using this station will now be able to enjoy the sweet breeze of this gigantic fan hanging from the roof before catching a Metro.

This highly energy efficient BLDC HVLS fan is expected to bring some respite to the commuters in this prevailing intense heat and humid condition.  This fan is strategically placed in the connecting corridor of old Kavi Subhash and New Kavi Subhash stations in order to provide a cool and refreshing journey to Metro users. These fans are capable of dropping the adjoining temperature a few degrees and also capable of replacing many traditional fans while consuming significantly less power. This newly installed fan operates silently and improves air flow circulation at the station premises over a large area.

At present, two such fans have been installed in the Blue Line, one at Kavi Subhash station and another at Kavi Subhash Carshed as trial basis. Metro Railway Authorities have planned to procure another 25 such fans in the coming days. These fans will be installed at DumDum, Baranagar and Dakshineswar stations in phases. Based on the response of the Metro commuters, such aesthetically beautiful and energy efficient fans may be installed at other elevated stations also in the coming days.
