Metro Railway observes “Swachhta – Hi –Seva”,
Additional General Manager participates in ‘’Shramdaan” to collect and dispose plastic waste in Metro premises
Kolkata, 11th September, 2019:
Metro Railway, Kolkata observes “Swachhta - Hi –Seva” today on 11th September 2019.
As part of this programme, today (11.09.2019) Shri S.P.S. Chauhan, Additional General Manager & Chief Signal and Telecom Engineer, Shri Satyaki Nath, Principal Chief Operations Manager, other officers and staff of Metro Railway offered ‘’Shramdaan” at Esplanade Metro Station.
Shri Chauhan and Sri Nath along with other staff took part in collecting plastic wastes from the station premises and disposed of the same in the dustbins kept at the station.
In this connection, an awareness programme was organised to ban ‘single-use plastic’.
They also drew the attention of the passengers to use the plastic bottle crusher placed at the Esplanade Station and demonstrated how to use the plastic bottle crushers. In his speech, Shri Chauhan requested the Metro commuters not to use ‘single-use plastic’. He also counseled food stall staff at the station and made them aware about the demerits of single-use plastic.
Colourful banners and posters were displayed at the station premises to create awareness about the adverse effect of plastic on the environment.
