PRESS RELEASE

NEAT AND CLEAN KOLKATA METRO: OUR PRIDE

 Kolkata, 27.03. 2024: -

Kolkata Metro, India’s first Metro is a pride for the country.  Starting with Esplanade to Bhawanipur (now Netaji Bhavan) stretch, this Metro network has constantly been upgrading and expanding itself.  Making all of  us proud  once again,   Metro  has started  running under the river Hooghly. For the first time in our country, Metro is running under any river overcoming all obstacles and has attained a new height with this engineering marvel.

This showpiece Metro is our pride and we need to come forward and work together to enhance its image and preserve its tradition.  Recently, it has been observed that a section of commuters has been creating nuisance and defacing the swanky Metro stations by spitting betel juices, gutkha etc. and throwing plastic specially in the new Corridors, which have been making Kolkata Metro untidy.  Metro authorities take all possible steps to keep Metro premises clean and tidy so that Metro commuters continue to  feel “Amar Kolkata Metro: Amar Gorbo” ( My Kolkata Metro: My pride) . But creating such nuisance in Metro premises can only be stopped with the active co-operation of all Metro users.

North-South Metro (Blue Line), country’s oldest Metro network, is an epitome of cleanliness.  Blue Line premises could be kept neat and clean with the active co-operation of Metro users as they feel that  it is their Metro.  Now as the new Corridors are being opened, such co-operation with Metro authorities is required to be extended in these Corridors too in order to uphold the legacy of Kolkata Metro.  Every stake holder of Kolkata Metro is requested to refrain from making Metro premises untidy and requested to stop your co-passengers from making such nuisance at Amar Kolkata Metro premises.
