4.3 LAKH ANDRIOD AND 393 iOS COMMUTERS DOWNLOADED ‘METRO RIDE KOLKATA’ APP

Kolkata, Date: 26.03.2024

‘Metro Ride Kolkata App’ has touched another milestone! More than 4.3 lakh Android users and 393 iOS users have downloaded this App.

This App developed by Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS) has been a hit among the users since its inception. Idea of developing such an App was conceived to enable Metro commuters to recharge their Smart Cards or book QR Code Based tickets anytime from home. For the benefit of the commuters, ‘Metro Ride Kolkata’ App was launched o­n 05.03.2022 in Android version and o­n 22.03.2024 in iOS version.

Till 24.03.2023, total 4,30,125 Android users have downloaded this App from Google Play Store and 393 iOS users have downloaded this App from Apple Store. This figure signifies the acceptability and popularity of this App. In order to make more commuters aware about it, special promotional films o­n how to download and use this App are being shown o­n platform televisions of North-South and East-West Metro stations. Metro staff have also been helping passengers to download this App from Google Play Store and Apple Store showing them the procedure to use it at different stations.

It is to be noted that all the stations of the newly inaugurated stretch of Green Line from Howrah Maidan to Esplanade will be included in this updated app from the next week. Commuters will be able to purchase their tickets with the help of this app to travel o­n this new stretch from the next week too.
