UNDER THE RIVER METRO SERVICES BECOME THE NEW ATTRACTION OF KOLKATA AND HOWRAH

 

Kolkata, Date: 18.03.2024

 

Commercial Metro services o­n Howrah Maidan and Esplanade stretch of Green Line, started from 15.03.2024, have instantly become the new attraction of Kolkata and Howrah, the twin cities separated by the river Hooghly. These services have been drawing thousands of passengers from the two sides of the river as well as other adjoining areas every day.  As services o­n this stretch are available from Monday to Saturday and offered cheap, fast, comfortable as well as traffic snarl-free journey, so more and more commuters are preferring Metro over other modes of transport.

 

From day o­ne, Metro authorities have deployed adequate number of staff at the four stations i.e. Howrah Maidan, Howrah, Mahakaran and Esplanade, dotting this stretch for the benefit of the passengers.  Commuters with the help of the integrated tickets can travel up to Dakshineswar, Kavi Subhash as well as Hemanta Mukhopadhyay stations.  These integrated tickets at present are being sold from the counters o­nly.  Adequate number of counters have been opened at all the stations to facilitate smooth sales of tickets.   Apart from that, tokens and Smart Cards are also being sold from the ASCRM machines installed at all the stations.   In order to help the passengers, to procure their tickets station staff have been constantly guiding them at all the stations o­n this corridor.  Adequate number of signages, Standees have also been installed to guide the passengers as well as announcements are also being made at regular intervals so that commuters can find it comfortable to avail all the facilities in the Metro premises. 

  

Integrated tickets for Orange Line are available up to 15.30 hrs. at the counters as the last service for Orange Line leaves the terminal stations at 16.40 hrs.
