FOOTFALL o­n  HOWRAH MAIDAN TO ESPLANADE STRETCH OF EAST-WEST METRO CROSSES  SEVENTY THOUSAND MARK o­n THE VERY FIRST DAY

Kolkata, Date: 16.03.2024

Commercial Metro services o­n Howrah Maidan to Esplanade stretch of Green Line have started from 15.03.2024(Friday).On the very first day, footfall o­n this stretch has crossed seventy thousand mark.The total footfall registered o­n this stretch has been 70204. The maximum footfall (23444) was registered at Howrah Maidan Metro station. Howrah Metro station registered footfall of 20923 passengers. Mahakaran and Esplanade Metro stations registered 13453 and 12384 footfall respectively o­n the very first day.

Commuters from all walks of life and from different areas of Kolkata, Howrah and suburbs travelled in this Metro under the river Hooghly to become a part of the history.Their joy and celebrations were visible.

Metro staff worked tirelessly in order to provide a smooth and memorable travelling experience to them.

Commuters also found it convenient to switch corridors  at Esplanade and Kavi Subhash Metro stations with integrated tickets. Metro staff also helped them to find their respective Metros. 

Adequate counters were opened and Smart Cards, Tokens, Paper Based QR Tickets were also made available in order to  facilitate seamless and smooth journey for the commuters.

          Metro Authorities have provided commuters a very cheap, fast and traffic snarl-free journey which is going to be an ultimate traffic solution for Kolkata and suburbs.
