TRIAL RUN FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE LAST PIER STARTED

Good News for the Metro commuters and all Kolkata Metro lovers!

Construction of the last Pier (P-319) o­n Kavi Subhash to Salt Lake Sector V Section of Kolkata Metro’s Orange Line at Chingrighata Junction has got a big boost.  Responding to the request of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), Traffic Department has given permission to conduct a Trial Run for at least five days from 22.02.2024 to 26.02.2024 at Chingrighata Crossing.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Department, has given this permission o­n 21.02.2024. Based o­n the feedback of this trial run, final permission for the traffic block required to construct this last pier at this busy crossing will be given.

A joint inspection was held at Chingrighatta junction in presence of representatives of RVNL, KMC, KMDA and police officials o­n 24.01.2024 to pave the way for construction of this pier.   RVNL has also taken experts opinion from IIT, Kharagpur for the construction of this pier.  During this trial run, RVNL is maintaining a close liaison with the OC of the local Traffic Guard in order to ensure normal flow of traffic at this busy crossing. For construction of P-319 and necessary sub-structure, a traffic block for a period of 75 days will be required o­n EM Bypass.
