EAST-WEST METRO CARRIES MORE THAN 7.14 LAKH PASSENGERS DURING BOOK FAIR

Kolkata, Date:- 02.02.2024

East-West Metro has won the hearts of book lovers. During the just concluded 47th International Kolkata Book Fair, Kolkata Metro’s Green Line was the most sought after mode of transport in Kolkata.

During this Book Fair maximum passenger count was recorded 65,854, an all-time high o­n 30.01.2024 (Tuesday). From 18.01.2024 to 31.01.2024, during Book Fair East-West Metro carried total 7,14,820 passengers. The last year 46thInternational Book Fair from 31.01.2023 to 12.02.2023, East-West Metro carried total 6,56,208 passengers.

During the said period Sealdah station of East-West Metro has registered total 2,91,082 passenger count. Karunamoyee recorded 1,63,837 passenger. Total passenger count of Salt Lake Sector-V station was 85,163. Adequate ticket counters were opened in these stations to cater to the expected rush of book lovers along with additional staff and security personnel. Metro officers and staff worked in tandem to provide smooth, fast and hassle-free services.

Shri P Uday Kumar Reddy, General Manager, Metro Railway has congratulated Motormen, RPF personnel, Station Superintendents, Booking Clerks and other staff for working tirelessly during the Boi Mela. Expressing his satisfaction, Shri Reddy has said that the concerted efforts of Metro officers and staff have helped to create a new history in the annals of Kolkata Metro.
