EAST-WEST METRO CARRIES 29.78% MORE PASSENGERS o­n 28.01.2024 (SUNDAY)

For the benefit of the book-lovers, Metro Railway has been running additional services in East-West Corridor (Green Line) o­n weekdays and special services o­n Sundays so that they can easily visit Kolkata Book Fair ground . This move has won the hearts of book-lovers.For the visitors willing to reach the o­n-going 47th International Kolkata Book Fair, Kolkata Metro’s Green Line has been the most sought-after mode of transport. As a result footfalls in East-West Metro have been increasing considerably during the 'Boi Mela'.

Passenger count in this Corridor o­n 28.01.2024 (Sunday) was 36,003 in comparison to 21.01.2024 (Sunday) passenger count of 27,741. This has been a 29.78% rise in passenger count.

It would not be out of place to mention here that passenger earning o­n 28.01.2024 was Rs. 5,87,535 /- which has been 31.03% more than previous Sunday's (i.e. 21.01.2024) passenger earning (Rs 4,48,375).

Adequate ticket counters are being opened to cater to the expected rush of book-lovers along with deployment of additional staff and security personnel. Metro officers and staff have been working in tandem to ensure smooth, fast and hassle-free services to book-lovers.

Book fair goers have expressed their happiness as Metro has ensured their smooth journey to and from the fair ground. "Exhaustive planning and adequate as well as proper deployment of staff have helped to serve our commuters better in the fair days. We are encouraged to receive positive feedback from them as we are running services till 10.00 pm everyday as well as o­n Sundays", Kausik Mitra, Chief Public Relations Officer, Metro Railway has informed.
