PASSENGER COUNT IN KOLKATA METRO

CROSSES 11.18 CR

Metro Railway, Kolkata, country’s first Metro, has been the lifeline of the city. Since its introduction, Metro Railway has been the preferred mode of transport for all. As time has progressed Kolkata Metro, keeping pace with the changing scenario and aspirations, has been expanding its wings. With this, more and more passengers have been travelling in it regularly to reach their destinations safely, smoothly and fast.

As a consequence, the footfall in Kolkata Metro has been increasing day by day. Till 31st October of this financial year, total 11.18 crore passengers have travelled in the North-South (Blue Line), East-West (Green Line) and Joka-Taratala stretch of Purple Line. Out of these, North-South Metro has carried maximum number of passengers i.e. 10.48 crores till October of this year. East-West Metro has carried 69.39 lakh passengers and in the Purple Line 78,131 passengers have travelled in that period.

 It is to be noted that in 2022-23 Metro had carried 9.94 crore passengers during the same period (i.e. April, 2022 to October, 2022). This is an increase of 12.47 %.

            In October,23 itselfMetro Railway has carried 1.83 crore passengers against 1.76 crores in October, 2022 which is 3.98% more.
