METRO RAILWAY ORGANISED VIGILANCE SEMINAR
AT RIVIERA, HOWRAH

Metro Railway has been observing ‘Vigilance Awareness Week’ from 30 October to 05 November, 2023 with the theme “Say No to Corruption; Commit to the Nation”. As a part of this programme, various initiatives have been undertaken to create an awareness to eradicate corruption from the society.
As a part of observance of ‘Vigilance Awareness Week’, a seminar on vigilance awareness was organized today i.e. on 03.11.2023 jointly by Metro Railway & Eastern Railway at Riviera, Howrah. Swami Vedatitananda Maharaj of Ramkrishna Mission and Smt. Ambika Jain, PFA, Metro Railway inaugurated the seminar by lighting a traditional lamp.
Every year ‘Vigilance Awareness Week’ is observed to encourage fight against corruption. Corruption destroys the very backbone of the nation and economic efficiency of the nation is downgraded due to sub-optimal allocation of resources breaking pareto-optimality & leading towards uneven distribution of resources. Promotion of integrity encourages ethical development. If any mistake is intentional, it is different from un-intentional mistakes. The basic objective is not to punish an innocent person. Emphasis should be given on transparency, minimizing discrimination and ensuring fair play. In fact, integrity is the mother worship it should be honoured. Bribe giver & bribe taker both are culprits in the vision of ensuring transparency.
One of the main speakers of the seminar, Swami Vedatitananda Maharaj of Ramkrishna Mission, Belur Math gave his valuable advice to eradicate corruption from every sphere of life.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Nisigandha Bhuyan, Professor, Business Ethics & Communication Group, IIM-Kolkata one of the Guest Speakers emphasized about the importance of self awareness.
Dr. Tanwir Arshad, Asstt. Professor, Political Science, Presidency College, Kolkata another Guest Speaker explained how the vicious cycle of corruption enters into our lives from the very childhood and how we fall into the trap of corruption. He also talked about the way out of this vicious trap.
