QUANTUM JUMP OF METRO SMART TOKEN SALES DURING DURGA PUJA

KOLKATA: 01.11.2023

Metro Railway has played a pivotal role for providing hassle-free journey for commuters during the just concluded biggest festival of Bengal, Durga Puja. For the convenience of the passengers, Metro Railway arranged to sell Smart Tokens from station counters during the Puja days. For that, adequate number of such tokens were supplied to each station of North-South Metro. The Smart Tokens can be used multiple times so it is a green, eco-friendly ticketing system compared to the old o­ne-time useable paper-based tickets.

During Durga Puja 2023 i.e. from Chaturthi to Dashami, the use of Smart Tokens by the Metro commuters in Blue Line has seen a quantum jump surpassing the expectations of the Metro Authorities. From Chaturthi to Dashami, Metro commuters have purchased 28,55,325 Smart Tokens, which are 2,47,536 (or 9.49% more) more than the previous year’s Durga Puja days’ sales. Specially new users of Kolkata Metro have used these Smart Tokens for smooth and happy journeys.   The detailed figures are mentioned below:

Maximum number of Smart Tokens has been sold at Kalighat (2,38,165) followed by Dumdum (2,36,630) and Shovabazar – Sutanuti (1,73,550) from Mahapanchami to Bijoyadashami.
