PASSENGER COUNT IN NORTH-SOUTH METRO NEARS

7.5 LAKHS MARK

As expected Kolkata Metro has again established itself as the most preferred travelling option in Kolkata during Puja days. This preference of commuters is getting reflected in the daily passenger count of Kolkata Metro.Over the last o­ne month, the daily passenger count of Metro has been rising steadily as Sharadotsav starts approaching fast.  Apart from the daily commuters, shoppers, travelers, pandal hoppers have been using this network to reach their destinations with comfort and ease.   

As a result, Metro sees crowded platforms and packed trains.As a consequence, passenger count in North-South Metro (Blue Line) has been nearing 7.5 lakhs mark. o­n 18.10.2023 (Chaturthi), North-South Metro has carried 7,49,160 passengers. Total 288 services were run o­n that day to cater to the Metro users. It was o­n 17.10.2023 (i.e. Tritiya) Metro passenger count crossed 7 lakhs mark after a year. 

         

On 18.10.2023, maximum passenger count i.e. 76,587 was recorded at Dumdum. Esplanade recorded 53,020 passenger count, Kalighat recorded 52,120 followed by Rabindra Sadan with 45,103 passenger count.

          It is to be noted that for the convenience of the pandal hoppers, Metro Railway has made elaborate arrangements to run night-long services in North-South Corridor o­n Saptami, Astami and Nabami. In East-West Corridor services will be run till mid-night o­n these three days.
