Kolkata, 25 September, 2023

Good news for all Metro commuters!

Construction work of Kavi Subhas-Bimanbandar via Rajarhat Metro Corridor has got a major boost.  Overcoming all odds, erection of 76-metre long steel girder on the viaduct section in between Pier No. 166 to 167 near Calcutta International School has got underway from 24.09.2023. In order to execute this work smoothly, north-bound traffic block on E.M. Bypass has been taken to divert the traffic. Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) has cleared the area at the airport side of the road bridge, which has been constructed by them recently for this work on 13.09.2023. In spite of the heavy downpour, Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL), the executing agency has immediately started the preparatory works along with fixing of supporting structures from the adjoining canal bed.

To complete the work within the stipulated time i.e. 60 days, more than 100 staff and workers have been deployed at the site. Three (3) heavy-duty cranes of 300 MT, 20 MT and 14 MT are being used along with four (4) trailers and one (1) JCB excavator.
