FINAL TOP SLAB CASTING IN AIRPORT SUB-WAY

CONNECTING UNDERGROUND JAI HIND (AIRPORT) METRO STATION TO NSCBI AIRPORT COMPLETED

Works of different Metro Railway projects in Kolkata have been going o­n in full swing. Underground Jai Hind (Airport) Metro station is going to be o­ne of the major stations of Yellow Line. It is going to be the international gateway to Kolkata. Recently a major progress has been made in the construction of this station which will connect the ‘City of Joy’ with the airport. o­n 16.09.2023, top slab casting of the sub-way connecting the Metro station and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport has been completed successfully. With the help of meticulous planning and proper deployment of manpower and machineries, this work of casting over an area of 400 sq meter was accomplished in 20 long hrs. 

A total of 425 cubic metre concrete was consumed during this casting. Total reinforced cage of 165 MT were used. 36 workmen and operators along with 12 engineers worked round the clock in tandem to achieve this feat. 8 transit mixers and 2 static concrete pumps were used for this casting. Shri P Uday Kumar Reddy, General Manager, Metro Railway has expressed his satisfaction for smooth execution of this work.

Shri Kausik Mitra, Chief Public Relations Officer, Metro Railway, has thanked all the stakeholders like Airport Authority of India (AAI), Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate, West Bengal State Public Works Department, Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) Limited, West Bengal State Electric Distribution Corporation Limited (WBSEDCL), North Dumdum Municipality and others for their continuous support and co-operation to execute this project smoothly.
