TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT GRANTS PERMISSION FOR FULL ROAD BLOCKADE NEAR CALCUTTA INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

Kolkata, 2nd September, 2023

Good news for all Metro commuters!

Construction work of Kavi Subhas-Bimanbandar via Rajarhat Metro Corridor has got a major boost today as the Traffic Department has given permission for full road blockade of western flank of E.M. Bypass for 60 days to facilitate erection of 76-metre long steel girder in between Pier No. 166 to 167 near Calcutta International School. Permission letter in this regard signed by Dy. Commissioner of Police has reached Rail Vikas Nigam Limited office today. In this letter permission for full blockade of western flank of E. M. Bypass from the southern end of Laskarhat Culvert (Near Pier No. 163) has been granted. During this blockade, north-bound traffic will be diverted through the existing south-bound stretch of E.M.Bypass up to Pier No.168 and then to the normal way along north-bound stretch of E.M. Bypass. Similarly the south-bound traffic will be diverted through the newly constructed road up to Calcutta International School.

During this road blockade, RVNL is going to enhance illumination along the road from Ruby Crossing to VIP Bazar area. Guardrails will also be provided Traffic Marshalls will be posted to facilitate traffic movement along this stretch.

Kausik Mitra, Chief Public Relations Officer, Metro Railway, has conveyed thanks to Kolkata Police for  lending huge support to Kolkata Metro by  giving block for  long 60 days and also to the people of Kolkata for bearing this pain for the greater interest of CITY of JOY.
