Good News for Metro commuters and all the Kolkata Metro lovers!

The trial run for necessary Traffic Diversion at Metropolitan Crossing near the proposed Beleghata station of New Garia- Bimanbandar via Rajarhat Metro Project has been started from 19.08.2023 by Traffic Department. A meeting was held between Commissioner of Police/Kolkata Police, Principal Chief Engineer, Metro Railway and Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL) officials on 10.08.2023 regarding this necessary Traffic Diversion at this crossing. It is expected that the Traffic Department will give permission for Traffic Diversion within this week and construction work of Pier No. P-286 and CP-287 will start immediately after. For this, Traffic Diversion from Metropolitan Crossing has been shifted to near Pier No 296, a shift of around 250 meters. Construction work of Pier No.286 and 287 is expected to be completed within two months.

Traffic Police Department has requested RVNL, as a futuristic development, to construct another iron bridge at the southern side of the present Metropolitan Bridge. The work of iron bridge has been started by RVNL which will ease the movement of two wheelers and pedestrians on EM Bypass in future.

It is to be noted that, in the first phase, NOC was received from Traffic Police Department on 06.04.2023 in which sub-structure work up to Pier Shaft of Pier No. PP-288 and PP-289 at this location has been completed. The normal traffic movement has resumed here after restoring the road.

After the construction of Pier No. P-286 and CP-287, RVNL will start casting work of the Portal Beam on Pier No. PP-288 and PP-289.
