GENERAL MANAGER INSPECTS KAVI SUBHAS TO AIRPORT STRETCH OF ORANGE LINE

 

Kolkata, 22nd August, 2023:

 

Shri P Uday Kumar Reddy, General Manager, Metro Railway inspected the entire stretch of the upcoming Orange Line from Kavi Subhas to Jai Hind (Airport) stations today, i.e. o­n 22.08.2023. Shri Reddy inspected different stations o­n this stretch and advised concerned officials to complete the job as per the deadline.All Principal Heads of Departments of Metro Railway and senior officials of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) accompanied him during this inspection.They briefed the General Manager about the progress of works and different passenger amenities which will be available at these stations. Shri Reddy also inspected the traffic diversion and the trial run being undertaken by Traffic Department o­n E.M.Bypass for construction of Piers o­n this stretch.Shri Reddy also inspected different Piers like Pier No 156, 157 at Tagore Park, Pier No.288, 289. He also inspected the sites of Pier No 286, 287 which will be constructed by RVNL very shortly at Metropolitan Crossing. Shri Reddy also inspected the site of Pier No 311 which will be constructed near Chingrighata Crossing.

Shri Reddy thanked State Govt. for extending helping hands to complete all the o­ngoing Metro projects in the city. He expressed his hope that by December 2023 the Orange Line from Kavi Subhas to Beleghata will be opened . By June 2024, this stretch will be further extended upto Salt Lake Sector V where it will meet East-West Metro.By December 2024, it will be further extended to City Centre 2. By June 2026, the entire stretch from Kavi Subhas to Jai Hind (Airport) is likely to be operational, he added.

Prior to this, General Manager inspected Jatin Das Park to Kavi Subhas stretch of North-South Corridor in a Metro.
