PRESS RELEASE

COUNSELLING SESSION OF BETTER HALVES OF METRO MOTORMEN

Kolkata, Date: 15.07.2023

Metro Railway is leaving no stone unturned to ensure safety of its esteemed commuters. Being the Lifeline of Kolkata, Metro Railway has been conducting regular mock drills, tutorials, special sessions etc to sharpen the skills of its workforce. Apart from this, special emphasis is also being given to keep Metro Motormen ready to face any eventuality. Senior Metro officials have been monitoring the situation as per the instructions of Shri P Uday Kumar Reddy, General Manager. In order to increase the camaraderie and inculcate a sense of oneness, regular interactions with the family members of the Metro Motormen are also being held to strengthen this effort. In these interactive sessions family members also put forward their grievances.

The Electrical Engineering Department organised one such session at Kavi Subhash shed today i.e. on 15.07.2023. In this session, better halves of Metro Motormen were present in numbers and they were shown a video on SPAD (Signal Passing At Danger) which is a serious offence from the point of view of Metro operations. Senior Metro officials requested them to ensure proper and adequate rest of their husbands at home and they were also advised to monitor whether their husbands are having adequate sleep or not. Because, adequate and quality rest of the Motormen is a must before joining the duty. Wives of the Motormen were also requested to serve proper hygienic diet in order to keep them fit and allow them to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

In order to deal with the mental stress, each participant was requested to practise yoga, meditation or any other activities daily which help individuals to remain stress-free and face any situation calmly. Motormen, who need to join duty early in the morning were advised to go to sleep early and not to waste time on social media platforms unnecessarily. Their wives were requested to remain vigilant to ensure this.

All the family members who were present in this counselling session were requested to spend quality time together and ensure a stress-free stay at home of Metro Motormen.

To make this session more interesting, an interactive session was also conducted in this programme in which family members of the Motormen exchanged their views, ideas and experiences with the Metro officials. After this, senior Metro officials also took lunch with them.

It is expected that such interactive sessions with the family members, especially wives of Motormen will bring a sea-change in their lifestyle and ensure more secured Metro operations. It is also expected that this enhanced bonding with the Motormen and their family members will provide them a comfortable space which in turn spread the message of combined responsibility, togetherness and alertness.
