8TH METRO RAILWAY USERS’ CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEE (MRUCC) MEETING HELD AT METRO RAIL BHAVAN

Kolkata, Date: 05.06.2023

The 8th meeting of Metro Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (MRUCC) was held today i.e. o­n 05.06.2023 at Metro Rail Bhavan.

Shri P.Uday Kumar Reddy, General Manager, Metro Railway presided over this meeting which was also attended by senior officers of Metro Railway. He briefed the Members about the various initiatives taken by Metro Authorities to further improve passenger amenities in the Metro premises and the progress of different o­n-going Metro projects in the city.

In the meeting Km Debasree Chaudhuri, Hon’ble Member of Parliament ( Lok Sabha), Shri Pradip Bhattacharya, Hon’ble Member of Parliament ( Rajya Sabha) Dr. Debasish Bhattacharya, Professor, Narendrapur Ramakrishna Mission, Shri Debasis Dutta, President, Bengal National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Smt. Mala Banerjee, President, Federation of Consumer Associations, West Bengal, Shri Prasenjit Hans, Special Secretary, Transport Department, Government of West Bengal were present and expressed their willingness to support Metro Railway’s efforts for improving the services.

Km Debasree Chaudhuri, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), has suggested to provide public toilet facilities and space for breast feeding for lactating mothers at all Metro stations. She also suggested to install sanitary napkin vending machines at stations. Shri Pradip Bhattacharya, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) has requested Metro authorities to install packaged drinking water stalls in the Metro premises and provide wheelchairs at all stations for emergencies. Other Members of MRUCC also gave their suggestions and advices to improve Metro service and amenities in the Metro premises.

Shri P. Uday Kumar Reddy, General Manager, Metro Railway and Chairman of the Metro Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (MRUCC) assured that all suggestions received from Members of MRUCC will be examined and necessary measures will be taken accordingly.

The meeting was held in a congenial atmosphere where members and Metro officials discussed many important suggestions and issues.
