GM PUBLISHES FARE STRUCTURE OF THE ORANGE LINE

Kolkata, Date:  01.04.2023

Shri  P. Uday Kumar Reddy, General Manager, Metro Railway held  an introductory  Press Conference at Metro Rail Bhavan, today i.e. 01.04.2023. In this press conference Shri Reddy briefed media persons about the Railway Board approved fare structure of Orange Line. Commercial services o­n this line will start as soon as Railway Board decides the date of inauguration, he informed.

Briefing the media persons General Manager has said that Metro Railway carried 17.64 crores passengers in the last fiscal year which is 130.58% higher than the passengers carried ( 7.65 crores in 2021-22).

 In 2022-23, 14.23 kms Metro route extension has taken place. Since 1984 this is the highest ever route extension of Kolkata Metro, he announced.

He has also informed that Railway Board has approved the Single Ticket System from Blue Line to Orange Line for seamless journey of the passengers and the fare of this segment and seamless single ticket journey will be under the affordable range. The details of single ticket fare structure are as follows:

Metro Railway has taken various innovative steps to increase its Non-Fare Revenue earnings. Such initiatives have helped to increase Metro Railway's Non-Fare Revenue to a great extent. In this context, it is worth mentioning that  Metro Railway during the financial year 2022-23 has ranked 5thamong all zonal Railways in Non Fare Revenue earnings. In the financial year 2022-23, Non-Fare Revenue earnings of Metro Railway have been Rs 36.33 crores which is about 86.80% higher than the Non-Fare Revenue earnings of Rs. 19.45 crores in 2021-22. Metro Railway is emphasizing o­n improving the aesthetics of display advertising in the Metro premises. Which will in turn further enhance Metro Non Fare Revenue earnings, General Manager said.

As a part of the passenger service, QR based journey tickets have already been introduced in Green Line which has got tremendous positive responses from the commuters. This facility will soon be available in North-South Corridor (Blue Line) .

One Dalian rake MR-501 will be in service for passengers very shortly. In reply to a question General Manager stated that we are expecting another four Dalian rakes to reach Kolkata very shortly.
