KAVI SUKANTA METRO STATION OF ORANGE LINE A HOMAGE TO YOUNG POET SUKANTA BHATTACHARYA

The 5.4-km stretch of the Orange Line from Kavi Subhas to Hemanta Mukhopadhyay stations will be opened in any day. o­nce commercial services o­n this stretch start it will add a new feather in the crown of Kolkata Metro. The five stations doting this stretch have been named after famous personalities of Bengal. Kavi Sukanta is o­ne of the stations which has been named after young Bengali poet Sukanta Bhattacharya. It’s the second station o­n this stretch which has been named after a poet. Kavi Subhash is another station o­n this stretch which has also been named after a poet.

 

Kavi Sukanta Metro station is going to be the fourth station in the array of five stations o­n this stretch from Kavi Subhash end. This station will serve the people of Kalikapur o­ne of the important and fast growing areas of Kolkata. There are also few famous big high rises in this area. Residents of these high rise complexes like Avishikta, Ruchira Residency are eagerly waiting for the commencement of the commercial run o­n this stretch so that they can reach Park Street, Esplanade area without any hassle. Prince Anwar Shah Road o­ne of the important thorough fares of the city is also not far away from this station. State of the art passenger amenities are going to be provided at the newly built Kavi Sukanta Metro station. There are 8 escalators, 4 lifts provided at this station. Apart from these, 12 public staircases will also be there. Kavi Sukanta station will also have two spacious platforms of 180-metre length. There will be adequate number of ticket counters, sitting benches, first-aid room, toilets for ladies, gents and divyangjan, Public Address System, digital display boards, CCTV surveillance system, AFC-PC Gates, emergency lighting facility for the convenience of the passengers., tactile floor indicators for the blind. In addition to these, there is state of the art smoke extraction, fire detection and suppression system at this station. This station has also been beautifully decorated with murals and paintings and artworks. This aesthetically designed station will surely not o­nly provide a unique travelling experience but also soothe o­ne’s eyes and frayed nerves.
