SATYAJIT RAY STATION OF THE ORANGE LINE A TRIBUTE TO THE MAESTRO

Orange Line of Kolkata Metro is going to be inaugurated very soon. Metro is going to start its commercial operations over the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass within a few days. Satyajit Ray Metro station is going to be o­ne of the prominent stations o­n this 5.4-KM stretch from Kavi Subhash to Hemanta Mukhopadhyay stations. From the naming to its decoration, this Metro station at the Hiland Park area of Kolkata is a tribute to the great Indian film maestro Satyajit Ray. The film institute named after this Oscar winning director is situated at a stone throwing distance from this station. Students, Professors, film buffs of India and abroad will be able to reach Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) easily after getting down at this station.

                   

This station will be the gateway to some of the important areas of Kolkata like Survey Park , Santoshpur, Panchasayar , Baghajatin and Jadavpur.  Baghajatin railway station of Eastern Railway is also very near to this station. This station will also fulfill the long standing demand of patients and relatives as some of the eminent private hospitals are located in the nearby areas.

As Orange Line, Blue Line and Eastern Railway’s suburban line will be linked at Kavi Subhas station, so commuters from Hooghly, North 24 Parganas, Howrah and South 24 Parganas will be able to reach these places conveniently. For this, integrated ticketing system will be in place for the convenience of the commuters. Metro commuters won’t have to purchase separate tickets while interchanging at Kavi Subhash station.

 

State of the art passenger amenities are going to be provided at the newly built Satyajit Ray Metro station. There are 8 escalators, 4 lifts provided at this station. Apart from these, 06 public staircases will also be there. Satyajit Ray station will also have two spacious platforms of 180-metre length. There will be adequate ticket counters, sitting benches, first aid room, toilets for ladies, gents and divyangjan, Public Address System, digital display boards, CCTV surveillance system, AFC-PC gates, emergency lighting facility for the convenience of the passengers., tactile floor indicators for the blind. In addition to these, there is state of the art smoke extraction, fire detection and suppression system at this station.
