PRESS RELEASE

METRO STATIONS BECOME POPULAR SHOOTING SPOTS

Kolkata, 15.02.2023

Metro Railway, Kolkata is the country’s oldest Metro. It is the lifeline of ‘City of Joy’. From the oldest Blue Line to the soon to be inaugurated Orange Line, Kolkata Metro is the ultimate traffic solution for the people of Kolkata and also the adjoining districts. Besides providing hassle-free, smooth and fast commuting opportunities Metro stations are also steadily becoming one of the most sought after shooting spots of Kolkata.

Many famous directors of Tollywood and Bollywood have already completed shooting of their blockbuster films in the Metro premises. Films and web-series like Kahaani, Uma, Aquarium, Bob Biswas, Oti Uttam, Lost, Toothpari have been shot in the Metro premises. Shooting of many upcoming films will also take place in the Metro premises. National award winning directors to greenhorns, all are equally interested and keen to shoot their films in the Metro premises.

Eastern India Motion Pictures Association (EIMPA), the platform of producers, distributors, exhibitors and other associate members is encouraging its members to shoot their films in Kolkata Metro premises. They are being encouraged to shoot at these stations at a very nominal rate. EIMPA and other big production houses are also in touch with Shri Kausik Mitra, Chief Public Relations Officer of Metro Railway to shoot their films in the Metro. The newly built stations of Blue Line, Green Line, Purple Line, Orange Line are aesthetically beautiful and conducive for shooting. These stations have very strong resemblance with the stations of foreign countries. As a result, film producers are also keen to use these stations as their foreign sets. This is helping them to save valuable foreign exchanges. Directors/ Producers can feature Metro premises (both underground and on viaduct) in their films. If required rolling-stocks like Metro rakes are also being provided for shooting.

Seeing the huge responses of producers/ directors / production houses, it can be said that Kolkata Metro has become one of the favourite shooting spots of films.
