EAST-WEST METRO CARRIES MORE THAN 6.5 LAKHS PASSENGERS DURING BOOK FAIR

East-West Metro has won the hearts of book lovers. During the just concluded 46th International Kolkata Book Fair, Kolkata Metro’s Green Line was the most sought after mode of transport in Kolkata.

During this Book Fair passenger count in this Corridor crossed 50,000 marks for the first time and the maximum daily footfalls was recorded as 66,000 an all time high o­n 11.02.2023 (Saturday). From 31.01.2023 to 12.02.2023 East-West Metro carried total 656208 passengers.

During the said period Sealdah station of East-West Metro has registered total 241839 footfalls. Karunamoyee recorded 158798 footfalls. Total passenger count of Salt Lake Sector-V station was 95779. Adequate ticket counters were opened in these stations to cater to the expected rush of book lovers along with additional staff and security personnel. Metro officers and staff worked in tandem to provide smooth, fast and hassle free services.

Shri Arun Arora, General Manager, Metro Railway has congratulated Motormen, RPF personnel, Station Superintendants, Booking Clerks and other staff for working tirelessly during the Boi Mela. Expressing his satisfaction, Shri Arora has said that the concerted efforts of Metro officers and staff have helped to create a new history in the annals of Kolkata Metro.
