KAVI SUBHASH STATION TO BECOME THE MEETING POINT OF BLUE AND ORANGE LINE METROS

Kavi Subhash to Hemanta Mukhopadhyay stretch of the Orange Line of Kolkata Metro is almost ready for the commencement of commercial services. With the opening of this 5.4 kms stretch, it will be the first time that the two Metro lines (i.e. Blue Line and Orange Line) are going to be linked at Kavi Subhash station. o­nce this much awaited stretch of Kavi Subhash to Airport via Rajarhat Metro project is commissioned, it will open up a very convenient mode of transport for commuters. People will be able to enjoy a hassle-free journey from Dakshineswar to Hemanta Mukhopadhyay station (Ruby More) just by interchanging at Kavi Subhash station without facing any traffic snarls. For this, integrated ticketing system will be in place for the convenience of the commuters. By virtue of this system commuters won’t have to purchase separate tickets while interchanging at Kavi Subhash station.

As New Garia station of Eastern Railway is adjacent to the newly developed Kavi Subhash station, so people coming from Sealdah South Section i.e. from places like Canning, Diamond Harbour and Namkhana will be able to enter the ‘City of Joy’ easily and conveniently in much lesser time. Kavi Subhash station will eventually serve as an interface of two Metro routes (i.e. Kavi Subhash to Dakshineswar, Kavi Subhash to Airport via Rajarhat) and suburban Eastern Railway line.

State of the art passenger amenities are going to be provided at the newly built Kavi Subhash station. There are 17 nos. of escalators, 8 nos. of lifts including 2 glass capsule liftsprovided at this station. Apart from these, 19 public staircases will also be there. For ensuring passenger safety and security, Kavi Subhash station area will come under the surveillance of 22 Close Circuit Cameras. 16 AFC gates have been installed at this station to ensure hassle-free movement of passengers. Special indicative foot markings will also be there to help the passengers to understand which way to follow to reach Blue / Orange Lines.

Kavi Subhash station will also have two double discharge platforms to ensure easy entraining / detraining of passengers. There will be adequate ticket counters, sitting benches, first aid room, toilets for ladies, gents and divyangjan, Public Address System, digital display boards for the convenience of the passengers. For injecting fresh air in the station premises special air jets have also been installed in this station.

This aesthetically designed Kavi Subhash station, having spacious concourse, murals, collage, decorative wall paintings, concrete works, a spinning wheel at the entrance is going to be another added attraction of Kolkata.
