COMMISSIONER OF RAILWAY SAFETY, NF CIRCLE, INSPECTS KAVI SUBHASH TO HEMANTA MUKHERJEE STRETCH OF ORANGE LINE

KOLKATA, 30.01.2023

Shri Suvomoy Mitra, Commissioner of Railway Safety ( CRS) , N.F.Circle, Kolkata conducted the mandatory safety inspection  of the newly constructed Metro line from Kavi Subash (New Garia) - Hemanta Mukherjee (Rubi More) stretch today o­n 30.01.2023.  This 5.4 -KM stretch is a part of Kavi Subhash- Dumdum Airport via Rajarhat new Metro line (Orange Line) which has been constructed at a cost of Rs.1550 crores.

During the inspection, which started at 9.00 am this morning, CRS inspected different passenger amenities, Station Control Room, firefighting arrangements, panel etc. of the following Metro stations:-

1) Kavi Subhash (New Garia Area)

2) Satyajit Ray (Hiland Park Area)

3) Jyotirindra Nandi (Metro Cash & Carry and Ajoy Nagar Area)

4) Kavi Sukanta (Abhishikta Crossing Area)

5)  Hemanta Mukhopadhyay (Rubi Area).

CRS also conducted trolley inspection of the tracks between all stations o­n this stretch. In the evening , the speed trial was also conducted in his presence. Shri H.N.Jaiswal, Principal Chief Engineer and Additional General Manager, Metro Railway, other senior Metro officers, Shri Amit Roy, ED, Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd, Shri Jyotirmoy Ray, Dy. Commissioner of Railway Safety/Tech/N.F. Circle  were also present during the inspection. This stretch will be opened for commercial run after obtaining CRS clearance o­nly.

Shri Arun Arora, General Manager, Metro Railway has expressed his satisfaction after the successful completion of the inspection of Orange Line today. He has hoped that soon this 5.4 KM stretch will be added to Kolkata Metro network after getting the green signal from CRS.  It will be the first time that the two Metro lines of Kolkata Metro will be getting linked at Kavi Subhash station.

It is to be noted that Kolkata Metro is spreading its wings by leaps and bounds in recent past. During o­n-going FY 2022-23, record 14.23 KM railway route is going to be added with Kolkata Metro network which is highest ever expansion in a single year in the history of Kolkata Metro since it's inception. Out of it, 8.83 KM have already been commissioned.
