ALERTNESS OF MOTORMAN FOILS A SUICIDE BID AT
MASTERDA SURYA SEN STATION
Kolkata, Date, 09.10.2022
Today at about 15:25 hrs., a lady aged around 34 years suddenly jumped on the “UP” tracks at Masterda Surya Sen Metro station in front of an approaching Metro with the intention to commit suicide. Alert driving Motorman immediately applied emergency brake and saved the life of the lady. The on-duty RPF and other station staff rushed to the spot and tried to rescue her. Finally, Metro RPF and other Metro officials lifted her from the tracks and took her to the Station Master’s office at about 15:29 hrs. on interrogation, she confessed that she was trying to commit suicide due to family problems.
Her family was contacted over phone and Bansdroni Police station was also informed about this incident at 15:32 hrs. Later, she was handed over to police personnel at 15:42 hrs of Bansdroni Police station and after observing all official formalities.
Normal Metro services were not disrupted even after the suicide attempt.
