ALERTNESS OF METRO STAFF FOIL SUICIDE BID o­n ASHTAMI NIGHT AT

 NETAJI BHAVAN STATION

Kolkata, Date: 04.10.2022

 

On 03.10.2022 at 22.24 hrs, an aged couple entered   Netaji Bhavan Metro station. Seeing their suspicious movement, o­n-duty RPF and station staff kept a close watch o­n them. Suddenly, the wife aged around 60 years after getting up from the sitting chair crossed the earmarked Yellow Line of the platform to jump o­n the Metro tracks for suicide purpose.  

As the o­n-duty lady RPF staff were alert, they rushed to the spot and prevented her from doing so. They stopped her o­n the edge of the platform and brought her to the safe zone. She and her husband were brought to the Station Master’s office and during interrogation, they burst into tears and cited sheer family problem as the reason of the suicide attempt.

After a while, the officer-in-charge of Bhowanipore Police Station was contacted by the Station Master and police officials came to the station immediately. After complying with all official formalities, they were handed over to them for further course of necessary action at 12.12 hrs.
