PRESS RELEASE

METRO STAFF RESCUE A LOST CHILD

Kolkata, Date: - 31.08.2022

On 30.08.2022 at about 20.15 hrs., during a routine check at Gitanjali Metro Station,  an  on-duty lady RPF suddenly found a girl child aged about 9 years  wandering at the Booking Counter of the station. She immediately brought this child to the Station Master’s Office where she disclosed her identity and the  cause of her wandering in the Station.  She told that she was travelling with her grandfather but after getting down at this station, she did not find him.  She gave  the phone number of her parents.

Thereafter, the Station Master made repeated announcements through the Public Address System requesting the parents of the child to contact him immediately and a control message was also  communicated to all the stations in this regard. Her parents were also contacted over phone.

At about 20.35 hrs., a commuter aged about 76 years came to the Station Master’s office and identified the rescued child as his granddaughter.

After complying with all official formalities, the rescued child was handed over to him and he expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the co-operation of Metro Railway Authority.
