CLARIFICATION REGARDING MEDIA REPORT OF SEWER PIPELINE o­n DIAMOND HARBOUR ROAD

Ministry of Railways had entrusted RVNL for execution of sanctioned work of Joka-Esplanade Metro Project.  Elevated section from Joka to Mominpur has been substantially completed and the balance work is in progress.  The construction work for underground section from Mominpur to Esplanade is underway. The project is passing through very busy and congested road and it has suffered a lot due to extraordinary delay in clearance of various utilities, specially several utilities in Majerhat- Mominpur- Khidderpur section.  In this regard, KMC has already been paid as per their estimation of Rs. 3.8 crores in May, 2021 for diversion of water supply, pipe lines and drainage pipe lines in Majerhat -Mominpur (excluding).

 

The sewer pipeline crossing D.H. Road from Jala Lane crossing was never informed by any KMC official.  The pipe with invert 3.5 m below road level was not detected in trial trench.  The 3 pipes detected in trial trench were shown to the KMC authorities and declared defunct.  Thereafter the pile foundation work was started and incidence of damage of sewer pipe in a small length of around 2.0 metre was intimated to KMC authorities. Joint inspections were held with by RVNL and KMC authorities o­n 23.08.2022 and detailed meeting was held o­n 24.08.2022.  RVNL agreed to provide all sorts of assistance for repairing of the damaged sewer pipeline.  Necessary repair of pipeline is likely to be completed within 10-15 days.

 

The project is hugely beneficiary for the residents of Kolkata and completion of this project will change the traffic scenario altogether. Metro Railway, the life line of City of Joy, earnestly request co-operation from all stakeholders so that the prestigious project   can be completed at the earliest. This 16.82 km long Metro project from Joka to Esplanade, loaded with its state of art technology and standout passenger conveniences, will definitely transform the city with world class infrastructure.
