SIGN OF SLIP IN THE EMBANKMENT BETWEEN NOAPARA AND BARANAGAR DUE TO HEAVY RAIN

METRO SERVICES UNAFFECTED

Kolkata Date: 13.08.2021

Due to waterlogging after incessant rain, sign of slip in the embankment was noticed in about 100 Metre portion between Noapara and Baranagar. As a precautionary measure and in order to strengthen the toe of the slope, repairing work has been taken up to ensure long term stability of the slope.

There is no problem in the Metro line.  Hence Metro services are running as usual.

It would not be out of place to mention here that daily Metro services have been increased from 220 to 228 from today i.e. 13.08.2021 and lag time has been reduced between trains from six to five minutes during the peak hours.

Metro is also contemplating to increase Metro services by an hour in the evening.  From Monday, in North-South corridor, last Metro will leave from the terminal stations at 21.00 hrs. instead of 20.00 hrs. due to the relaxation of the restriction period by the State Government.
