METRO RAILWAY SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES NON-INTERLOCKING OF NOAPARA CARSHED TO IMPROVE TRAIN OPERATIONS
Kolkata, 8th June, 2021
Metro Railway has successfully completed Non-interlocking (NI) work of Noapara Carshed on 06.06.2021. This NI work involved modification of the existing Electronic Interlocking system at Noapara which is linked to all the routes, points, signals and track sections in the Carshed.
The modification done through non-interlocking will greatly improve the operational flexibility of movement of rakes to and from Noapara and thereby increase performance parameters of train running of Metro Railway. The details of advantages in train operation due to NI are given below:
(1) Direct feeding of rakes to Noapara Station from Noapara Carshed
As on date for injection of any rake from Noapara carshed to Noapara station:
(i) Trains are received from Noapara carshed to Dum Dum Station at DN Platform
(ii) Thereafter it requires to place the train to Y-siding for reversing back to UP platform
(iii) From UP platform of Dum Dum Station, trains are dispatched to Noapara/Dakshineswar
Therefore, run from Noapara Carshed to Dum Dum Station and Dum Dum Station to Noapara Station become an idle run.
(2) Reduce operational bottlenecks :
(i) As on date while trains are dispatched to Noapara Carshed from Dum Dum Station, trains are required to hold either in UP or in DN direction on mainline near Noapara Gumti ( Pt.1083 A /B), as the shed bound train required to cross the DN line diagonally.
(ii) Presently, when a train is received at Dum Dum station from Noapara carshed, until the train is received at UP Platform of Dum Dum Station, no DN train can be dispatched from Noapara station.
(iii) During any shunting movements inside shed (north end) involving the shunting neck near Noapara goomty, no train can be received at Noapara carshed.
(iv) In case of Pt. No. 126 becomes inoperative, no signaling movement is possible for both incoming and outgoing rakes from shed.
(v) Simultaneous injection and withdrawal of rakes is not possible at present.
(vi) With the commissioning of new lines at Noapara, the above bottlenecks can be removed which will have definite impact on punctuality and will increase efficiency.
(3) Saving of Power:
Direct injection of rake from Noapara Carshed to Noapara Station will save consumption of power for idle run between Noapara Carshed to Dum Dum and Dum Dum to Noapara Station.
(4) Saving of Man - Hours:
At present, for the idle run from Noapara Carshed to Dum Dum and Dum Dum to Noapara Station for which Motorman need to report at least 32 to 45 minutes before the actual commercial run.
With the commissioning of new lines at Noapara, there will be savings of man hours.
