GENERAL MANAGER FELICITATES METRO SPORTSPERSONS
Kolkata, Date:- 02.06.2025
Shri P Uday Kumar Reddy, General Manager, Metro Railway has felicitated 21 Metro sportspersons for their outstanding achievements in different International and National level tournaments in recent time today i.e. on 02.06.2025 at a function organised by Metro Railway Sports Association at Metro Rail Bhavan.
Out of these 21 sportspersons, 6 have participated in different International Championships in Bridge, Chess and Table Tennis and brought laurels for the country. These sportspersons are: Shri Sumit Mukherjee & Shri Sagnik Roy (both in Bridge), Shri Sayantan Das & Shri Mitrabha Guha (both in Chess), Miss Poymantee Baisya & Miss Moumita Dutta (both in Table Tennis). Shri Mitrabha Guha secured first place in Rapid category and second place in Blitz category in Commonwealth Chess Championship 2024-25. Miss Poymantee Baisya & Miss Moumita Dutta secured third place in the Table Tennis Team event in the BRICS Games in 2024.
Apart from them, Shri Debabrata Majumder (Bridge), Shri Biswajit Hembram, Md Fardin Ali Molla, Utpal Mukherjee (all in Football), Shri Vivek Singh, Shri Akash Pandey, Toufik Uddin Mondal, Shri Debopratim Halder, Shri Ankit Kumar, Shakir Habib Gandhi & Shri Kaushik Maity (all in Cricket), Shri Raunak Singh, Shri Roshan Panchal, Shri Om Stita Prangya & Shri Binod Rajak (all in Basketball) have performed well in different National level tournaments.
Terming all these sportspersons as “Our Pride”, General Manager congratulated all of them for their outstanding performances. He has expressed his hope that in future too they will continue to make Metro fraternity proud and inspire other sportspersons. Senior Metro officials were present in this programme.
