NEW PASSENGER AMENITIES AT HOWRAH AND ESPLANADE METRO STATIONS

Metro Railway has been constantly taking new initiatives to improve its services as well as amenities for the benefit of the commuters. As a part of such initiative, digital locker service has been inaugurated at Howrah Metro station of Green Line-2. Shri P. Uday Kumar Reddy, General Manager, Metro Railway has inaugurated this unique smart facility at the station premises in the presence of all senior officials of Metro Railway today i.e. on 23.05.2025. Stating that Metro Railway is trying to provide improved facilities to the commuters at different Metro stations, he has expressed his hope that passengers will use these facilities in numbers as it will be beneficial for them. With the opening of this facility at Howrah, now passengers can keep their luggage of different sizes in this locker safely at an affordable price and do other important works or attend other programmes.
Any commuter will be able to hire this smart digital locker service for maximum of 12 hrs. duration in a day at Howrah Metro station. Similar digital locker service will be available at Dakshineswar, Sealdah, Park Street, Mahanayak Uttam Kumar and Esplanade stations soon.
In another unique initiative, Relaxation Chair service has also started at Esplanade Metro station of Blue Line today. Shri P. Uday Kumar Reddy, General Manager, Metro Railway, has inaugurated this service today for the benefit of the commuters. In his address, Shri Reddy said that this service would help commuters to get rid of fatigue and soothe their strained nerves at an affordable cost and improve their experience of commuting. Such a Relaxation Chair service will soon be provided at Dakshineswar Metro station.
It is to be noted that for providing quality medicines at an affordable price, Metro Railway has already opened Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra (PMBJK) at Netaji, Dakshineswar and Sealdah stations. Another such outlet will be opened at Kavi Subhas station of Orange Line very soon. For commuters, Branded Food Outlets will also be opened at different Metro stations soon. Contracts for opening such Branded Food Outlets have been awarded for Howrah and Sealdah stations. For providing an opportunity to the commuters to purchase all types of products required for regular household activities, Multi Shopping Arcade will soon be opened at Dakshineswar Metro station. A contract for opening this Arcade has already been awarded.
