A PASSENGER EVACUATION MOCK DRILL CONDUCTED WITH NDRF & WBF&ES TEAMS INSIDE METRO TUNNELS

Metro Railway always gives top priority to the safety and security of the commuters. In order to check the preparedness of Metro staff to tackle any emergency like earthquake and its impact o­n rakes inside the tunnels and subsequent injury to the passengers, a passenger evacuation mock drill was conducted jointly with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and West Bengal Fire & Emergency Services (WBF&ES) personnel inside the Metro tunnels in between Howrah and Mahakaran Metro stations o­n 04.04.2025 night after the commercial hours.

 

Motormen and station officials were trained and counseled by NDRF and WBF&ES team o­n how to take immediate necessary action to rescue passengers from a trapped rake in case of such an emergency.

 

The objective of this mock drill was to sharpen the evacuation skills as well as check alertness and preparedness of them to tackle such emergencies.

 

Senior Metro officers and staff of different departments were present during this drill.

 

It is to be noted that Metro Railway authorities regularly conduct such mock drills inside the tunnels, o­n viaducts to ensure passengers' safety.
