METRO CARRIED MORE THAN 14.7 CRORE PASSENGERS TILL NOVEMBER 2024

In the current financial year the number of passengers in Metro Railway has gone up significantly. Up to the end of November 2024, total 14.72 Cr. passengers have been carried by Metro Railway which is 15.91% higher than last year’s figure of 12.7 Cr. during the same period.

For the benefit of the commuters, Metro Railway has improved ticketing services as well. At present apart from issuing tokens from the counters, commuters can purchase tickets  with the help of Metro Ride Kolkata app, UPI based ticketing system as well as ASCRM machines and also recharge the Smart Cards . This has helped our commuters to save their time and they don’t have to worry for changes. Till November 2024, total  9.34 Lakhs Android users and 0.48 Lakhs iOS system users have downloaded ‘Metro Ride Kolkata’ app. Metro Railway has 616 nos. of AFC & PC gates with QR features that enable passengers move seamlessly with QR based tickets. Currently 365 nos. of booking counters are enabled to handle UPI payment system. As a result commuters are now purchasing tickets with the help of Metro Ride Kolkata app  before reaching Metro stations to avoid rush.

Ticketing with the help of Hand Held Terminals has also been introduced for the first time which has helped a lot to  manage the rush during the last festive season.

Metro Railway has also launched massive ticket checking drives since November last  to stop commuters to travel with improper travelling authority.
