GENERAL MANAGER CONDUCTS TROLLEY INSPECTION OF WEST BOUND TUNNEL FROM ESPLANADE TO SEALDAH SECTION OF GREEN LINE

 

Kolkata, Date:24.12.2024

 

Shri P. Uday Kumar Reddy, General Manager, Metro Railway and Chairman, KMRCL along with Shri Anuj Mittal, Principal Chief Engineer, Metro Railway and Managing Director, KMRCL, other senior officials of Metro Railway and KMRCL conducted a trolley inspection o­ne day ahead of tight schedule set by KMRCL for completion of track works in West-bound Tunnel between Esplanade - Sealdah Sectionof Green line.

 

The work in this section was interrupted at Bowbazar location between the two stations due to water ingress and collapse o­n 31.08.2019 followed by two more similar incidents o­n 11.05.2022 and 14.10.2022. A long battle of more than five years was finally won by using advanced retrofitting methods, geo stabilisation techniques with geophysical investigation and modern track fittings.

 

The team celebrated by displaying victory sign with tunnel and the trolley in background.

 

General Manager lauded the effort made by KMRCL in achieving the milestone and also expressed satisfaction o­n the progress of works including closure of opening at Bowbazar and issued directions for taking up other system works also o­n war footing and early commissioning of the entire stretch of Green Line from Salt Lake Sector V to Howrah Maidan for which the City of Joy dreams for with open eyes.
