SPECIAL ANTI-OVERRIDING DRIVE IN GREEN LINE-2

Metro Railway Authorities have been conducting a Special Anti-Overriding Drive in Green Line-2 in order to check the incidents of passengers enjoying trips without paying the requisite fares.It has been observed in recent times that Esplanade-bound passengers are boarding the Metros bound for Howrah Maidan from Howrah station in order to enjoy extra Metro ride freely. This tendency has also been observed at Mahakaran Metro station as Howrah Maidan-bound commuters taking Metros going in the opposite direction i.e.Esplanade in order to ensure seats to enjoy the ride. Such a tendency has been causing inconvenience to other Metro commuters.
In order to curb such menace, this special drive has been undertaken by Metro Railway. A 14-member Special Group has been formed by the Traffic Department to conduct this drive daily. Members of this group are travelling in the running Metros to detect those passengers who are overriding intentionally. After detection of such incident, perpetrators, travelling without valid tickets, are being taken out from the Metros and exited through the AFC-PC gates with a request to purchase valid tickets before resuming their journey. on an average, this special group is catching around 40 commuters regularly who have been indulging in such malpractices which are also causing financial losses.
Special announcements are also being made at Howrah Maidan and Esplanade stations of Green Line-2 requesting the passengers to refrain from such practices. Metro Authorities have appealed to all to travel with valid tickets, otherwise they may experience embarrassments of forceful ejection from Metro compartments. Apart from intensifying this drive, Metro Authorities are also contemplating to conducting such drives in Blue Line too in the coming days.
