PRESS RELEASE
CAMPS TO FACILITATE COMMUTERS FOR RECHARGING SMART CARDS onLINE AND PROMOTE UPI PAYMENT BASED TICKETING SYSTEM
Kolkata, Date: 03.11.2024
Metro Railway authorities have introduced different digital payment modes for the benefit of the commuters. In order to make these digital payment modes familiar to commuters Metro staff have been regularly organising camps at different stations. Commuters have also responded positively and accepted such initiatives. This new digital system has given them the opportunity as well as flexibility to purchase tickets from the comforts of home and tender fares on-line without carrying the necessary changes. As a consequence, ‘Metro Ride Kolkata’ app introduced to enable commuters to use the on-line ticketing system has been gaining popularity. Special promotional films (on how to download and use this commuter-friendly app) are also being shown on platform televisions of Blue Line and Green Line Metro stations. Social Media platforms are also being used to popularize this app.
Such Special camps were conducted today on 03.11.2024 by Metro staff at all stations of Blue Line and Green Line-2 to make Metro users aware about this app and how to use it. Metro staff also helped the commuters to purchase tokens and recharge/buy their Smart Cards through ASCRM machines with the help of UPI Payment Based Ticketing System. Metro commuters eager to shift to digital system and adopt smart ways to purchase tokens, Smart Cards and recharge it participated in these camps as such camps have been beneficial for them. They were visibly happy as Metro staff helped them to download the app and explained them the procedures to use it.
It is expected that such camps will help Metro commuters to get acquainted with this user friendly app and UPI Payment Based Ticketing System. It is helping Metro commuters to save their valuable time as they don’t need to stand in the long queues in front of the booking counters to re-charge or purchase their Smart Cards or purchase tickets.
