ALERT  METRO STAFF FOIL A SUICIDE BID o­n THE DAY OF KALI PUJA AND DIWALI

Kolkata, Date 31.10.2024

Alert Metro staff have foiled a suicide bid today.

While monitoring the live CCTV footage, Metro staff at Kalighat Metro station observed suspicious movements of a commuter,aged around 75 years, waiting to catch a Metro o­n the DN  platform of the station at around 10.50 hrs. today. Sensing his suspicious intention, Metro staff and o­n-duty  RPF personnel rushed  to the spot where the aged person was about to attempt suicide.They  took him away to a safe zone. He later confessed that he had come to the station to commit suicide.

With the co-ordinated efforts of Metro staff  Shri Debabrata Sen Sharma, Traffic Supervisor, Shri T. Bhunia,Traffic Inspector, Sheo Kr. Roy, Points Man B, Shri Barun Das, Commercial Porter, Shri Sambu Das, Commercial Porter and Shri Biplab Mondal, Commercial Porter, a precious life has been saved o­n the auspicious day of Kali Puja and Diwali.

Station Superintendent got in touch with the Kalighat Police Station immediately after informing Officer- In- Charge about the whole episode and police officials came to  Kalighat Metro station. He was handed over to them after completing all official formalities.
